What to Do When You Don’t Know What to Do

When we are young, choices of right and wrong are usually pretty clear. Do your homework, right. Tell a lie, wrong. As we get older the right decisions aren’t always as clear. There isn’t always a “right” or “wrong” and sometimes outcomes feel nearly impossible to predict making a decision all the more difficult.  Add indecision to the mix and it is easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain. Well, here is what to do when you don’t know what to do.

Be an adult?

People say, “It is just part of being an adult.” Or “Make a list and the answer will be clear.” Or, my personal first choice, “Do your research.” When it comes to decisions that have a major impact not only on your life, but the lives of those nearest and dearest to you, those options just don’t cut it.

Changing careers, buying homes, and choices in educating your children-these are huge things and no list can clearly encompass all the possible parameters. There isn’t a clear answer wrapped up in a neat now and labeled “right.”

So, what do you do when you don’t know what to do?

What do you do when you are at your wits end worrying that you might make the wrong choice?

What do you do when fear wakes you in the middle of the night?

Pray.

Pray for wisdom.  

Pray for guidance. 

Pray for patience. 

Pray.
