Self care is a huge part of living the best life you can with a chronic illness. So what is self care? It is anything that you do to feed your mind, heart, and soul. Each Sunday, here at Smiles and Sundays will be known as Self-Care Sunday. Please, come back each Sunday so you can see what self care technique I will feature in order to feed your soul.
Self care for this week: Hand Lettering
One of the things I have been obsessed with lately is hand lettering. Seriously, I love all things with fancy letters. Here are some great examples of what I’m talking about from my best friend (also known as Pinterest)
My attempts at hand lettering…
Now, I certainly do not claim to actually be any good at this. But, I’ve been practicing, using that time and claiming it as my self care time. I find it very relaxing and enjoyable. With the practice and following some great tutorials on Pinterest like this one from Love, Life, and Thyme and this one (my favorite because you can use Crayola Markers of which I have plenty laying around) from Lyssarts Here are some examples of what I’ve been working on.
So…. without further ado, here are my final products from this week’s Self Care Sunday: Hand Lettering. They certainly aren’t perfect, but not bad I guess for a week’s worth of self care. I think I might pop them into a dollar store frame and hang them up as a good reminder both of the sentiment and to take a few moments each day to focus on self care.
I used these Tombow Dual Tip Markers on some left-over craft paper I had laying around. If you love the look of hand lettered signs and posters but don’t really want to try and craft them up yourself. Here is a great Etsy store where you might find something you love. Just download, print and frame. Most of the ones at this store are only about $5.
What are you going to work on today for Self Care Sunday?
